Field Notes for a Stick Fight is a series of small-scale multiples drawn from the installation Don’t bring a gun to a stick fight. These works reimagine the original’s sculptural gestures in a compact, repeatable form - each one a quiet study in imitation, memory, and make-believe.
Like the larger installation, these pieces explore the uncanny overlap between play and threat. Sticks shaped like weapons, weapons disguised as playthings. By miniaturising the form, the tension becomes both sharper and more absurd - a toy, a token.
These multiples act as fragments of a larger reflection: on how we first learn violence, how we aestheticise it, and how those early gestures continue to echo into adulthood. Each object invites touch, repetition, and re-enactment - like a scene remembered and restaged.
